Safari Hat

Another Wardrobe By Me pattern - the Safari Hat. The outside of this hat is all made of recycled denim - even the bias binding. It’s a great project for using up scraps, and I used the salvageable parts of three pairs of old children’s jeans. The lining is from old brushed cotton PJs.

As always the Wardrobe by Me pattern was easy to use and the sizing was spot on. This was a tricky make since the recycled denim was already pretty thick, and it had ‘features’ in it like seams and bits of pocket, so I used a denim needle on the sewing machine, and used a hammer to flatten some of the chunkier bits before I could sew them.

The result is a scrappy, cosy safari hat, great for autumn and working in the garden.
