Peppermint Button-Up Dress

This is a sweet linen dress that I made from the free pattern in Peppermint Magazine.

It has princess seams and although the dress is simple in shape, the pattern has some really nice touches, using a bodice lining to get a smooth neck and arm holes.

I found it really helpful to make a toile for this dress, both to get the sizing right and also to work out the instructions and how to get the neck and arm holes correct.

This is made in a light grey/green linen, which changes colour drastically depending on the light! It looked a bit plain once I’d completed it, so I added some white embroidery. This was great fun - I used an embroidery hoop and just ‘doodled’ circles of different stitches. The linen creases instantly, so it’s not a very smart dress, but I think it’s sweet and fun for the summer.
